Catering

The chef at Winterfell Care Home prides himself on preparing meals to a high standard using fresh ingredients. To maintain a homely feel, the chef will arrange to cook your favourite dishes in line with your daily nutritional requirements.

The chef and manager work together with the input of our residents to provide a well-balanced nutritional 4-week rotating menu. The aim is to provide delicious meals however this is centred on the resident’s diet and health requirements. To promote varied meals, we have a designated ‘World food day’, specifying cuisines from particular parts of the world. Whether this is Italian, Indian/Kashmiri right through to Chinese and American cuisines.

Our on-site kitchen has been designed and planned out by professional caterers with new and modern equipment. This allows varied meals to be prepared in efficient time to a high standard.

Activities

We at Winterfell understand the benefits of keeping active and how certain activities are enjoyable and help maintain resident’s hobbies and interests. We promote our activity programmes wholeheartedly. There is a designated activity co-ordinator which creates the activity plans, arranges clubs, supports resident’s integration and promotes general well-being in particular hand to eye co-ordination and mobility which all are linked to an individual’s independence.

There is a wide range of activities which our residents can partake ranging from playing board games, book club, beauty therapy sessions, in-house movie night and much more. We encourage residents to visit local places of interest such as theatre, cinema and shopping centres. Given how vibrant Nottingham is, there is always local community events’ taking place such as Goose Fair, Bonfire Night, and Festivals of Culture. Transportation is on hand to cater for such needs.

Accessibility

We provide community transport in the form of our disabled person’s mobility vehicle. This includes transport for our activity session, visits to the local amenities and for visiting friends in nearby areas.

Our care home is wheelchair accessible, and when opting to go outdoors you will be accompanied by a qualified care assistant for your safety and assistance. The home also has two passenger lifts for easy access to each floor.

Decorating

We invite residents to bring their household items, furniture, treasured possessions, favourite photographs and mementos to give a homely feel to their room and the communcal areas. This triggers positive memories and makes the transition as smooth as possible. Each bedroom at Winterfell Care Home is spacious allowing residents to personalise their own rooms.

Visiting Times

Winterfell Care Home operates a secure open door visiting policy. Visiting times are between 9.00am to 6.00pm, however this is dependent on a case by case basis and can be extended if required. We always want Winterfell Care Home to feel like your home and have made dedicated visiting areas both private and quiet.

One to one support

At Winterfell Care Home we have a shopping for the less able facility available. If you are unable to leave the home for any circumstances, our shopping facility will enable you to provide a list to our trusted staff who will collect the items from the local supermarket and deliver directly to the resident. Similarly, we collect and order all medicines for our residents which takes away pressure of management of medication and allows peace of mind knowing this is provide at the right intervals. This is all possible with our contracts with Boots & Hyson Green Pharmacy who dispense the homes medication.
